Biodiversity Management Plans (BMP)
Biodiversity Management Plans (BMP)
What is a Biodiversity Management Plan?
Biodiversity Management Plans (and other similar plans - Biodiversity & Enhancement Plans, Habitat Management Plans etc.) are an important mechanism to allow for the sensitive management of our biodiversity to support wildlife.
Biodiversity Management of a site involves:
- Knowledge of species and habitats present within the site
- Understanding of the ecology of the site
- Identifying the site objectives
- Identifying the Management required to achieve these objectives
- Finance to undertake the ongoing management
Management plans bring together these elements, and are frequently required as part of the planning process for developments, particularly those sites which support communities of plant and animals of a high nature conservation interest.
When can a BMP be produced?
A BMP can be produced at any point of year. However, please note that if surveys are required prior to the production of the BMP, these may have time constraints.
